Introduction
Novaz (“we,” “us” or “our”) takes your privacy seriously — especially when the data is about your health. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit heart.novaz.app and use Heart Rate & Health - Novaz (the “App,” and together with our website the “Services”).
When we refer to personal data we mean any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. For the purposes of the GDPR, Novaz is the data controller unless otherwise stated.
Our privacy-first approach
- No account and no server. You don’t create an account, and the App has no Novaz server to send your data to.
- Your readings stay on your device. Heart rate, variability, and the blood pressure, blood sugar and blood oxygen values you enter are stored on your iPhone or iPad and nowhere else.
- No tracking and no advertising. The App contains no ads and no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not sell or share your data. Nothing is sold, rented, shared or sent anywhere.
Information we process
Camera
With your permission, the App uses your rear camera (and flash, where available) to read your pulse from your fingertip. Camera frames are processed on your device as they arrive and are never saved, never written to storage, and never uploaded. You can change camera access at any time in iOS Settings.
Health readings and profile
Your measurements, the values you log by hand, the mood and activity you attach to readings, reminders, and the profile details you enter (such as age and gender, used to grade your pulse against a typical range) are stored locally on your device. Suggestions in the App are generated on your device from this data. We have no access to any of it, and deleting the App deletes it.
Apple Health
If you turn on Apple Health in the App’s settings, the App writes your heart rate and heart-rate variability readings to Apple Health. It does not read anything back. Data shared with Apple Health is managed by Apple and by your Health settings, which you can change at any time. Health data is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.
PDF reports
If you export a PDF report, it is created on your device. It is only shared where you choose to send it.
Our other apps
The App can show a list of other Novaz apps. To do this it loads a public list of our apps from novaz.app and their public App Store details. These requests contain no information about you or your readings.
Contact information
If you contact us by email (for example at support@novaz.app), we receive the information you choose to include. We use it only to respond to you and provide support. Please don’t send health readings you don’t need to.
Website analytics
Our website (not the App) uses Umami, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool that records aggregate, non-identifying statistics such as page views, referring sites, approximate country, browser and device type.
Payment information
If you subscribe to PRO, billing is handled entirely by Apple under its own terms and privacy policy. The App checks your subscription status with Apple on your device. We do not receive your payment details.
How we use information
We use the limited information described above to:
- provide the Services and their core functionality on your device;
- understand, in aggregate, how our website is used so we can improve it;
- respond to your questions, feedback and support requests;
- protect the security of our Services and comply with applicable law.
Sharing of your information
We do not sell or share your personal data. We use Apple (App Store distribution and billing) and Umami (website analytics). We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
Data retention and deletion
Everything the App stores is kept on your device, so you control it: deleting readings in the App, or deleting the App, removes them. Data you saved to Apple Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information. Because we hold almost no personal data about you, for anything we do hold (such as support emails) contact us at support@novaz.app.
Children’s privacy
The Services are not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
