Measuring your heart rate on iPad
On iPhone the flash lights your fingertip from below. Most iPads don't have one, so the app relies on the light around you instead — and tells you so on screen.
Measure on iPad
- Sit at a well-lit desk or table. Daylight or a bright lamp works; a dim room doesn't.
- Tap Measure your heart and allow camera access.
- Cover the rear camera lens with one fingertip, resting it lightly.
- Hold still for about 45 seconds, until the ring completes.
If it won't settle
- Move closer to a light source, but keep direct sunlight off the iPad.
- Lay the iPad flat on the table so it doesn't move.
- Try a different finger or warm your hands.
FAQ
- Is an iPad reading as good as an iPhone one?
- With good room light it can be. The flash makes an iPhone less sensitive to the light around you, so iPhone readings are usually easier to get.
